SUPER RALLY BUCHAREST

Electrifying Premiere At Super Rally Bucharest For Oprea

The joy of a home event is special for any athlete, and for Cristiana Oprea this long-awaited moment is Saturday, November 4th, when she will compete in Super Rally Bucharest - UniCredit Leasing Trophy.

Organized in downtown Bucharest, she will race the 100% electric Opel Corsa rally car, a model for the first time at the start of a competition in Romania.

This is the same car with which the local driver competed in the Opel Cup, the only 100% electric rally championship in the world. Together with her family and friends at the home race, Oprea draws the curtain on her second international season, which was possible with the support of UniCredit Leasing, Vitesco Technologies and Michelin.

At the same time, this weekends event marks the beginning of an electrifying partnership between Cristiana Oprea and Eldrive Romania, one of the main providers of EV charging services in the country. More than 250 charging points are already operational nationwide in shopping centers parking lots, office buildings, residential areas and petrol stations. The chargers can be easily found in the Eldrive Romania app, available on App Store and Google Play.

Super Rally Bucharest will take place on a street track designed around the Palace Hall, starting right on Calea Victoriei, in front of the Athenaeum. Competitors will start the day at 09:30 with the route recognition session, followed by four practice rounds between 10:00 and 13:00, when spectators will have the opportunity to watch electric race cars competing against the clock alongside regular, fuel-powered race cars. Following a one-hour break, the two rounds of the race will take place, between 2:00-3:30 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony.

Motorsport lovers are invited between 13:00-14:00 to discover the service park set up on Știrbei Vodă Street. Here they will have the chance to talk to Cristiana and see up close both the Opel Corsa e rally car, as well as certain hardware components that equip the series model. In this regard, engineers from Vitesco Technologies will be there to present components of the architecture of hybrid and electric vehicles designed by them.

Soft drinks will be supplied by Vitamin Aqua, who have joined Cristiana Oprea and codriver Alexia Parteni as partners starting the two events of the European Rally Championship they competed in earlier in 2023.

"It is a special feeling to compete at home, in such a spectacular setting in the heart of Bucharest. The mild autumn weather is perfect for racing, so I hope we'll see as many spectators as possible, especially young people who will have the opportunity to see how passion for speed only makes sense in an organized setting. My mission behind the wheel is to inspire as many girls as possible to follow their dream in motorsport, to show that anything is possible, said Cristiana Oprea, the first Romanian woman driver to compete in the World Rally Championship and the founder of the Romanian Women in Motorsport platform.

At the beginning of the year Cristiana joined forces with FILIA Center to promote gender equality, and at Super Rally Bucharest she will back yet another important cause. Cristiana will wear the pink ribbon on her rally car in support of "Cancel Cancer", a breast cancer prevention initiative launched by Avon Romania. Every year, the Cancer Cancer caravan urges thousands of women from all over the country to give up their reasons for postponing annual medical check-ups, offering free breast ultrasounds and encouraging women to allocate time for their own health. The campaign details can be accessed on the Facebook page Stop Cancer la Sân.

You can find out more information about the projects and competitions in which Cristiana is involved from her media partners ProFM, AutoBild Romania and RallyFish, but also from her blog cristianaoprea.ro, on Instagram @crissoprea or on the Facebook page Cristiana Oprea.
