WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Rally Ireland Delegation Visit Third Location Today

The delegation tasked with visiting potential locations for Rally Irelands service park conclude today in Waterford after spending Thursday visiting 2 locations In Tralee, Co. Kerry and Patrickswell, Co. Limerick.

Motorsport Ireland President Aiden Harper has already confirmed that Ireland had been pretty much guaranteed a round of the championship if they could provide the funding and the venue for the service park, Irelands bid will be initially for a three year period with a possible option to extend.

The process has intensified in the last week with delegates from the WRC joining a team from Motorsport Ireland to visit the three locations.

"We have met all three regions previously a couple of times at this stage and everything has been paper based, power-point based, so this is the touch and feel exercise that will happen over the next couple of days to ensure that what they've said on paper is actually on the ground," stated Mr Harper.

The delegation will spend the coming days reviewing the candidates and a decision will be made early next week.
