
The three cars from the McRae collection went under the hammer yesterday at Iconic auctioneers (Formerly Silverstone Auctions)
As expected the collection attracted big interest with all three selling on the day, Most notably the 1992 British Rally Championship winning Subaru Legacy RS ‘Group A in the iconic blue and white Rothmans livery, McRae took the title winning all six events in this Iconic car. SOLD FOR £414,500
The very special 2005 Mk II Ford Escort, With the Millington ‘Diamond’ 2.5-litre, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine producing around 330bhp was the fastest rally Escort ever built. In Colin’s own words. SOLD FOR £157,500
And finally the 1977 Chrysler Sunbeam Ti 'Group A' Rally Car, Regarded as the car that started Colin’s career. This legendary rally car was carefully restored and rebuilt in to a new shell by Barry Lochhead, McRae family mechanic, who built the car originally with Colin, and who ensured that every detail of the rebuild was correct, enabling YSG to retain its original 'Group A' identity.
