Home hero tops qualifying

Home hero Filip Mares made the perfect start setting the fastest time in this mornings qualifying stage here in Zlin.

After a solid run in free practice setting second fastest time after run two, The Czech driver went one step further with a time of 2min 09.329 to top qualifying, Three of the top four times were set by fellow Czech drivers with Eric Cais taking second fastest, Simon Wagner took third.

Mares: “It’s nice to begin the race this way but for sure it’s not the start of the face it’s just the beginning of the weekend,”

Mares will now have to make a decision on his start order selection that takes place in front of Zlín’s City Hall from 15:30 this afternoon.

Current championship leader Hayden Paddon set the ninth fastest time after backing off due to a slight scare in the previous free practice.
