
Motorsport Irelands bid to host the World Rally Championship is expected to become clearer within the next few weeks, With a response from the Minister of State for Sport expected shortly.
The event's fate now relies on obtaining €15 million from the Irish government to progress the bid to the final stages, RallyFish contacted the Department Of Sport in relation to the process with the Minister of Sports office confirming "Motorsport Ireland had submitted all the relevant documents and materials that will assist Department officials in reviewing the proposal"
"The proposal is at present being reviewed by the Department and a response will be issued to Motorsport Ireland in the coming weeks"
Discussions between Motorsport Ireland and the WRC Promoter continue, With talks as recent as last week in relation to the stage of the proposal within Government and future steps if the funding is secured.
Ireland will likely join a revamped calander from 2025 with a number of new events also in the running.
