East Riding Stages to Kick Off 2025 BRC

Beverley & District Motor Club are proud to announce that the East Riding Stages Rally will kick off the 2025 Probite British Rally Championship.

With rallies in England, Wales, and Scotland, the championship provides the ultimate test for the best drivers on some of the most iconic stages in rallying. The BRC has always been regarded as the UK’s premier rally championship and continues to enjoy an international reputation as one of the best in the world.

The growing popularity of the East Riding Stages Rally has rapidly seen the event  become a key fixture in the UK's motorsport calendar since it was first held in 2022.

Scheduled for February 23, 2025, the rally features ten challenging special stages on closed public roads across East Yorkshire, together with a ceremonial start in Beverley town centre, attracting a wide audience, from local residents to motorsport enthusiasts from across the country.

Probite British Rally Championship Manager Reece Tarren is delighted to welcome the event onto the roster. “We are very excited to be kicking off our 2025 season at the East Riding Stages Rally,” he says.

“The fantastic Yorkshire closed roads will be a fascinating proving ground for the British Rally Championship crews and offer an interesting challenge to begin the season, battling each other and the possible weather in February too.

“The Legend Fires North West Stages was certainly a dramatic start to the 2024 season but with the event not running in 2025, we sought an alternative event that would fit the bill.

“What stands out to me is the effort and work behind the scenes from the organisers to bring rallying into the heart of the community. Their engagement events and fan-focused format are exactly what our sport needs. The enthusiasm from the team is very encouraging too and that resonates throughout the rally offering. It’s looking like a great start to the season, and we hope this early announcement will give our competitors the best possible preparation for the season ahead.”

The BRC selects events that combine the highest standards of organisation with the most testing stages, pitting the country’s best drivers in the best cars against one another for the coveted championship title.

"We're absolutely delighted to have been selected as the opening round of the Probite British Rally Championship,” said Matthew Atkinson, the Clerk of the Course for the event. "We started out with the aim of bringing closed road rallying to the people of East Yorkshire, and each year we strive to keep improving the event. By welcoming the British Rally Championship, we hope to continue to deliver an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators."

The East Riding Stages Rally once again begins with a ceremonial start in the Visit East Yorkshire FanZone, based in Beverley Saturday Market, setting the stage for a day of competitive rallying across closed roads in the East Yorkshire countryside.

A short walk from the town centre FanZone, the Spectator Superspecial Stage will take place across Beverley Westwood, offering spectators a unique and thrilling view of the spectacular rally cars in action.

Both the FanZone and the Superspecial stage are completely free for spectators, connecting fans more closely with the event, right in the heart of Beverley.

With the interactive FanZone bridging the gap between fans and competitors, Beverley & District Motor Club hope to foster a deeper appreciation for the sport, attracting new fans and encouraging local residents to join as new members.

“We aim to create an accessible and engaging environment that can be enjoyed by everyone, from seasoned motorsport enthusiasts, to families looking for a fun day out,” said Cat Lund, the rally’s FanZone Director. “Together, the Probite British Rally Championship and the East Riding Stages Rally offers fans the perfect opportunity to experience the excitement of rallying firsthand.”

The ceremonial finish will feature a parc exposé, offering a chance to meet the British Rally Championship crews, learn about the cars, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the world of rallying, before competitors gather for the trophy presentation.

Bringing the rally to a wider audience, the East Riding Stages Rally will be livestreamed online and the BRC action will be broadcast on ITV4, ITV4+1 and ITVX shortly after the event.
