Dominant Meeke Claims Portuguese Win

Kris Meeke and James Fulton, driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally2, claimed an impressive victory in the Serras de Fafe Rally on Saturday, Leading the event from start to finish, claiming nine fastest stage times along the way to the win in the opening round of the Championship.

Meeke outpaced Armindo Araújo in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 by 1 minute 8.9 seconds after completing 11 stages covering 110.3 kilometers with Azorean Rúben Rodrigues (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2) completing the podium positions.

The event posed many challenges with adverse weather conditions, including rain and even snow in the Cabeceiras de Basto section, making the dirt surfaces extremely slippery. However, Meeke, representing Team Hyundai Portugal, demonstrated exceptional skill, living up to the expectations placed upon him.

Meeke:

"It's been a long time since I've enjoyed such an interesting rally with fantastic qualifiers, like Seixoso, for example, which I didn't know about. And I had also never done Luílhas with a muddy floor. Here are some of the best qualifiers in the world! I'm very happy to start the season with a win"
